Remembering Eddie: Nearly Five Decades of Dedication

August 5, 1950 - December 3, 2025

In a place where millions pass through, Edward (Eddie) Brzezicki stood as a quiet, constant presence. For 48 years, he devoted himself to Toronto Pearson's Porter Services, working closely with Air Canada—a role that demanded reliability, dignity and strength. Through early mornings, long days and countless travelers, Eddie showed up, day after day, with a steady grace that left an imprint on everyone who crossed his path.

Eddie’s story began far from the bustle of an airport. Born in Głogów, Poland, he emigrated to Canada in 1969 with his parents and siblings, seeking a better life. They settled in Toronto’s west end near Roncesvalles Avenue, a neighborhood that became a second “Little Poland,” rich with culture and community.

While working as a taxi driver, Eddie met Stanisława, the love of his life. They married in 1973 and later welcomed two children. Eddie’s family was his anchor, even as he dedicated nearly five decades to the airport—a place that became his second home.

After nearly five decades of service at Pearson, Eddie semi-retired. Despite being at the airport less and less, his connection to the airport community remained strong, as he stayed in touch with former colleagues and friends.

Eddie passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 in the hospital, surrounded by his loved ones.

To those who knew him, Eddie was more than his job. He was a familiar face, a man with humor, heart, and quiet resilience. He had his struggles, his kindnesses, and his own way of showing he cared. After so many years at YYZ, it’s hard to imagine the airport without him.

Eddie is predeceased by his son, Christopher, and survived by his daughter, Barbara, his siblings Aniela, Józef, Daniela, and Mieczysław, and his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his YYZ family—especially his Air Canada colleagues and his porter family.

The I Am Toronto Pearson community thanks Eddie for his incredible 48 years of service. His presence will be missed, but his legacy of strength and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
