This year marks an exciting milestone for recognition at Pearson. For the second year, the Going the Extra Mile (GEM) Awards bring together two powerful programs—Eye on Safety (EOS) and Passenger First (PF)—under one banner.
Together, these programs celebrate the people who go above and beyond, demonstrate our values in action, and make a meaningful difference every day for passengers, colleagues, and the airport community.
If you’ve seen someone lead with care, act with purpose, or raise the bar, this is your chance to recognize them.

Eye on Safety
The EOS program recognizes individuals and organizations who proactively contribute to a culture of safety and security prevention and preparedness. EOS celebrates everyday actions—big or small—that help prevent incidents, reduce risk, and protect our people.
EOS Categories
Safety Leader – individuals in leadership roles who champion health, safety and/or security culture, lead by example and influence others.
Safety Champion – individuals who are on the front line that take action to prevent incidents, identify hazards and speak up for health, safety and/or security.
Safety Culture – organizations or teams who embed health, safety and/or security into their daily operations and decision-making.
Safety Innovation – organizations or teams who introduce creative solutions to improve safety, security or health outcomes.
Passenger First
The Passenger First program celebrates individuals and teams who elevate the passenger experience through care, collaboration, and exceptional service. PF is about delivering moments that matter.

Show You Care – Individual
For someone who consistently demonstrates empathy, kindness and thoughtfulness, making passengers feel valued, supported and genuinely cared for.
Own the Moment – Individual
For someone who stays calm and confident under pressure, takes responsibility, and offers clarity to passengers and colleagues when it matters most.
Go Above and Beyond – Individual
For someone who consistently goes the extra mile, finding creative ways to improve the passenger experience and exceed expectations.
Making Customer Experience Better Together – Team
For a team that collaborates to deliver exceptional passenger experiences, showing the power of teamwork, empathy and initiative.
Ready to Nominate?
Use the nomination forms to share a brief story about how your nominee supported safety and security or delivered outstanding customer experience.
Highlight what happened, how they responded, and the impact on the passenger and/or operation.
It Keeps Getting Better: GEM Awards & Airport Workers’ Day
This year, we’re taking recognition to the next level by bringing the GEM Awards into the Airport Workers’ Day celebration. As one of the most anticipated events at Pearson, Airport Workers’ Day provides the perfect stage to honour the people who make our airport run.
GEM Award winners will be announced live at the Airport Workers’ Day ceremony on June 25, spotlighting the incredible contributions of our EOS and Passenger First champion.
Selection Process
Safety and Customer Experience teams will review submissions through committee-based evaluation, ensuring a fair and thoughtful selection process.
